‘The Bikebin is a 17-litre rigid box made of 2.5mm polypropylene. The lid is lockable and the bin can also be locked to the cycle rack itself. Other useful features include eyelets to allow items to be bungeed across the top and a carrying handle and shoulder strap when you want to unclip it and take it with you into the shops or office - it just takes a few seconds to unclip and remove it from the bike. Two Bikebins provide a wide, flat surface for carrying other items on.

I used my bike every day for work carrying spare clothing, food and papers and my husband used his to carry gardening tools to and from jobs. We both appreciated the lack of rummaging needed to find items; you just open the lid.

… we both rate the Bikebin over traditional panniers for everyday utility use.’

‘Your Bikebin is absolutely brilliant. I already have a pannier briefcase on one side but on the other side I occasionally need some additional capacity and now you’ve provided it. I am really impressed …’

The following is an extraction of the full review by VeloVision.

‘Like many cyclists I’ve pretty much grown up with panniers, graduating from flimsy, non-waterproof budget models to today’s fully waterproof, rugged and well designed systems. But they’ve all had a similar basic design: a flat back panel and a fabric bag. Going against this design orthodoxy is the BikeBin, a hard-shell plastic pannier. It was invented, apparently, in response to a leaky experience with normal panniers. It’s sure to be better than the cheap ones, but how does it match up to today’s state of the art fabric bags? Bikebins provided one for us to test, confidently saying “Give it a good kicking, it’ll take it!”’

'I've got four on the bike in total as they fit the lowriders no problem. I've always used Ortlieb panniers in the past but the flat surface at the rear is an ideal platform for rackpacks, plus the simplicity of a rigid container with a lid beats flappy fabric and straps hands-down.'

'I have used it a few times and found it excellent. It fixes well to the bike, is easy to get off and on, is robust, does not rattle around and looks good. I could do with it being slightly bigger but obviously that is a matter I hope you are managing to break into the market, and I am happy for you to use my endorsement'

'However my primary reason for choosing Bike Bins was a colleague who had 2 and found them to be the best panniers he has used.'

‘The small grub screw on the lower hook is a bit weedy. Nevertheless the Bikebins is fantastic and a good camping stool turned upside down.'

‘Hello, May I start my saying what an excellent product the BikeBin is, well worth the money and has saved me from wasting money on fabric panniers.

My friend and I are currently in training for a ride in May 2009 (John O'Groats to Lands End), we have slowly built up our kits and had just the panniers to purchase, money is tight, so we searched on line to buy four pannier bags, pref waterproof and in good condition.. lots for sale some well over priced and out of our reach. Then I came across the Bikebins... not seen them before and what a brilliant idea, motorbikes have them, so why this long for bicycles? Only got them Tuesday this week and it has rained, yet travelling back and to from work, my contents have stayed dry.

Would definely recommend them and I am looking forward to trying them out on a training run to Wales at the end of September.

You should start a fanclub... I'll have some pic's soon as will send them on.

Good luck with future sales.
All the best'

‘Sam, I'm speechless. Your awesome! I ride a lot and was stoked when I found your website. Everyone I know here in the states either has soft bags or converted oyster buckets, and even though it works, well its not a bike bin. I know that as people see my bins they will want them and I will send them all your way.

Again, AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME '

‘Just wanted to thank you for my bikebins. I've had them about a month now and I think they are great. I cycle to the office every day and I now have no trouble taking all the things I need. Its great to be able to just lift the lid and find what I'm looking for.

I think i heard about bikebins initially from a Google search but then I saw a review in the CTC magazine.'

'Hello - I'm that slightly crazy looking girl who bought one of your great bins online a few days before running into you at a fair trade market in Bristol! I just wanted to update you on how happy I am with my bike bin! It really is so much better than a flimsy fabric pannier. I just fill up my rucksack with the stuff I need at work, place it in the bin et voila - no more nasty sweaty bag to carry on my back and my work clothes stay dry no matter what the weather! In fact I left my bike out overnight when it was raining really hard and then next day there still wasn't a drop of water inside the bin. It's like magic! I've now become slightly evangelical and keep trying to 'convert' other cyclists to this vastly superior way of carrying stuff on a bike. In fact I try to convert non-cyclists too - my sister hasn't ridden a bike in years and even she conceded that 'it's much less weird than you made it sound and actually very sensible' when she saw it! (I think my describing it as a lockable miniature wheelie bin that clips onto my bike confused her slightly).

So anyway in conclusion: thank you so much for conceiving of such a wonderful product and I wish you the best of luck in the future - maybe one day every town and touring bike will have a bike bin 'pre-installed'!'

'I ordered one of your bikebins last november/december time and was very impressed by the promptness of delivery and the quality of the product itself. I cycle into work and have used it almost every day since. I really, really like my bikebin and it's been incredibly useful. Its solid, light, pre-moulded design is ideal. It doesn't wilt on you like cloth/canvas bags; it doesn't fall over;it keeps my clothes and paperwork completely dry; and it doesn't have the sharp edges of wire baskets. And it has been favourably commented on by style conscious colleagues.'

Keep up the good work.

Laurence
